    Extending out

    Streatham

We were asked to come up with ways to bring more light and space into this Edwardian terraced property in South London.

Our answer was to remodel the back of the house with a single storey rear and side extension built in a contemporary style. The new space has created a large kitchen, spacious utility and larder, cloakroom and dining area on the lower ground floor, complete with multiple sky lights to let in as much daylight as possible. French doors and fixed windows were chosen to give the room a more romantic, industrial feel. We’ve rerouted the access points to better connect the kitchen to the reception area. Imposing double front doors now give entry via the reception space while the original hallway has been closed off and is now a much-used storage area for the family’s coats and shoes.
