The brief was to remodel and extend the house without impacting on its external appearance, creating a contemporary interior that is a well-guarded secret. The ground floor was opened up and a new basement level created, with a double-height dining area flanked by a glazed wine cellar on one side and a utility room and playroom on the other. The high water table was a challenge – there is a brook at the end of the garden – but this was successfully overcome to create the bright and spacious living area. On the first floor a master bedroom suite with dressing room and en-suite bathroom completes the refurbishment.
